So far.....

I have been working on three projects
for my adorable grandchildren.

Berkleigh really loves to dress up
as Rapunzel.
(And that is a bit of an understatement)

So I saw that someone had made a Rapunzel wig
on Pinterest and decided that Berkleigh
needed to have one...

It contains two pounds of yarn and it should
touch the floor when she wears it.
I am planning on braiding it and of course
adding flowers...
but right now I am trying to decide how to do that
without putting on one of the boys heads
to hold it straight.?...
(I wish I had that picture!!!)

And how can you have a princess without a
dragon?
I know I have confused a couple of fairy tails
together...but who is going to care?...really...?

Anyway, Merrick loves dragons and Jennifer made him a
dragon tail for Christmas last year so this hat is going to match..
Green with teal plates on top
like a Stegosaurus!!!
I know it might sound a little lame but
I think he will really love it.

Are you wondering yet why I am crocheting and not sewing?
Well, just in case you are....
my sewing machine has been in the shop for almost
two months...and I am having withdrawals.
(That should be a whole other post!!!)
So I had to find something else to keep my hands busy..

Although, I did decide to borrow a machine from my friend Michele
a couple of days ago
so that I could make the third project...
shoes to match Quincy's blessing dress!!!

I made a yellow pair for her a couple of months ago and they turned
out really cute.
(I think that was the last project I made on my machine)

We are going to her blessing next week
so I need to finish all of these projects before we go.

I can't wait to see how Jennifer has added her special touch
to Quincy's dress.

We will both have to be surprised....
and in a hurry to get them done....

I sense a disturbance in the force....

The boys went to see the new 3D version of
Star Wars episode 1, "The Phantom Menace"
last night at midnight.
They decided to make their own costumes....

Can you guess who they are?

Chris already had the huge cape that I made him years ago. It is
to dark to see the rest, but he looked really awesome.
It's a great cape because he can also be
Harry Potter, a Hobbit, a wizard or anything else that uses a large cape.

I didn't think Matthew would really wear this when he
arrived at the theater, but he did and I guess he was a
huge hit. The guy who bought the $70 storm trooper
helmet was defiantly jealous.

Two thumbs up for my creative kids!!!

I should just get used to the fact that I live in a family
of nerds. They wanted me to come too and dress up as
Princess Amidala......hum....
the thought was actually quite appealing.....
I might be turning into a nerd too!!!

May the force be with you!!!

Being Crafty....

Last week I went to a wedding shower.
I went to Target and looked at her registry and found this really
great cheese grater. It is a lot bigger than most
graters I have seen plus it has a storage compartment
in the bottom that is detachable.

I couldn't just give her a grater....so I remembered seeing
these wooden heart spoons in the dollar section,
found this great black and white kitchen towel with
silverware on the front, and some Hershey kisses
to put inside.

I had this black and white flowered paper
at home and decided I would wrap just the sides and the bottom
of the grater.
It was like wrapping a present but just leaving one side open.
I then filled it with candy...

...fan folded the towel and stood the spoons up inside
with the candy. I tied the ribbon to the towel
along with the Cricut cut card...
with her initial on the front.

I think it turned out cute and fun...
and she loved it.

Last week my Bff, Julie and I went to the
Women's Conference here in Lake Charles.
They have it every year and every year they invite
an amazing woman to come and speak.
This year they invited Vicki Lawrence from the Carol Burnett show.
The conference lasted all day and they had
classes and booths and luncheon with the celebrity.
So Julie and I decided we had to go to the luncheon
and see Vicki Lawrence even if that was all we did!!
Vicki was amazing and really funny.
I always loved her as Mama on the show.

While we were there we went around and looked at
some of the booths and collected all of the free
stuff that they gave out.
One of the businesses had a photo booth. So
we dressed up and got some free shots....

We had a blast!!!

A birthday...100 years in the making!!!

While on vacation, our whole family went
to see my Dad to celebrate his 100th birthday!!!
He lives with my sister and her family in Washington!!!
And it just so happens that Jennifer and Tyson
just moved to Oregon, so they are only
about 3 hours away!!!
So after spending some time with Jennifer we
piled into the car....
(all 8 of us with equal amounts of luggage)
and drove to Washington.

My Dad was thrilled to see us all
because we have never all been together with my sister's
family at the same time.
We spent about 4 days with him and it was a blast!!!
On Saturday we had a party with fantastic
barbecued hamburgers
and of course cake....

He blew out the candles...

And opened presents...

He was very excited that Mary Jane and I had made
him a quilt. Mary copied the pictures onto
the fabric for me and I did the rest.

We had everyone's picture on the quilt
including my Mom....
Which made Dad kind of teary eyed....

The twins had a great time getting to know their
new cousins.
This is Tessa...

This is Alex giving Dad this giant card he and his sister,
Rory, had made for him, along with the
cap which had a bottle opener attached to the brim!!!!

We had a great time and can't wait to go back again...

Here are some close ups of the quilt...

Stay tuned for pictures from the rest of our vacation....
